Amazon.<br \/>\n<strong>Digital sovereignty<\/strong> It means giving back control to us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our data is stored in our country<\/li>\n<li>Our digital decisions are controlled by us<\/li>\n<li>Internet infrastructure and services can't be left in the hands of others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Simply put: Digital Sovereignty = <strong>National independence within the digital world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Why is digital sovereignty so important now?<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>National security:<\/strong><br \/>\nData and information has become a weapon, and if it's not in your hands, it can be threatened at any time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>privacy:<\/strong><br \/>\nNo foreign company has the right to collect our data and use it for advertising or other purposes without our knowledge.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Economy:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhy pay millions to overseas companies when we can develop local companies and create jobs?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Control content and policies:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen we rely on foreign platforms, they impose their rules and regulations on us, which are not always suitable for our culture or laws.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Countries that have implemented digital sovereignty and are working to develop it<\/h3>\n<h4>\ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa <strong>The European Union - the leader in regulating digital sovereignty<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>They launched the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that forced all companies to respect the privacy of European citizens.<\/li>\n<li>They started a project <strong>GAIA-X<\/strong>an alternative European cloud network to AWS and Google Cloud.<\/li>\n<li>They are working to develop a \"European Internet\" that is relatively independent of US influence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>\ud83c\udde8\ud83c\uddf3 <strong>China - Total Control<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>They have their own internet system (The Great Firewall).<\/li>\n<li>They have local alternatives for all services: Baidu instead of Google, and WeChat instead of WhatsApp.<\/li>\n<li>All data is under state control, and digital sovereignty is not only a priority, it's a necessity. <strong>Doctrine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>\ud83c\uddf7\ud83c\uddfa <strong>Russia - Localized version of the Internet<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Project Runet was developed to be able to disconnect itself from the global internet in times of emergency.<\/li>\n<li>They have laws forcing companies to store citizens' data within Russia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>\ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\udde6 <strong>Saudi Arabia - Arab Leadership<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Established the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).<\/li>\n<li>Launched a \"government cloud\" and local data centers.<\/li>\n<li>It has a clear vision to own the cloud infrastructure and achieve \"Saudi data sovereignty.\"<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>\ud83c\udde6\ud83c\uddea <strong>UAE - Smart Investment in Digital Infrastructure<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>It has advanced data protection legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Supported the establishment of massive data centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.<\/li>\n<li>The trend is to reduce reliance on global companies and promote homegrown solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>\ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddec <strong>Egypt - Steady First Steps<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Passed the Personal Data Protection Law in 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Works on government national data centers.<\/li>\n<li>It has a plan to digitize and localize technology, especially in government services and
